Blue Note Records is one of the great Jazz labels, with a catalogue of releases stretching all the way back to 1939. As well as the breadth and quality of its artists and their recordings, it is also famous for pioneering a new aesthetic for its artwork, particularly through the work of Reid Miles. From the mid-50s through most of the 60s he produced close to 500 covers for the label, sometimes working alongside Andy Warhol.
This visualisation analyses the colours of the cover of every release in the Blue Note Records catalogue up until the present.
